Ways To Calm My Nerves

Did you know that one of the ways to calm my nerves that I use is to make sure that the food I eat is as less processed as possible. Somebody once remarked that all the essential amino acids, vitamins, protein and minerals have been boiled and processed out of these foods, so you begin to wonder what is left.

If we can take some of the stress off the body in digesting all that rubbish we are leaving more energy for ourselves, our energy levels and above all our immune system.

The other great benefit is that by using a diet which homes in on simple clean food, we can actually give our brain the nutrients it needs to keep all those brain transmitters ticking over nicely,

We can also reduce coffee intake as that will keep us on an agitated high state which will not permit us to relax naturally. Our sleep patterns may be negatively affected too.

But look what happens when we eat simple clean food, we are  boosting the serotonin, the norepinephrine and the others so that we can enjoy a better mood and fewer sugar spikes. We can also enjoy that feeling of optimism which is so crucial when dealing with nerves.

One of the other ways to calm my nerves is to make a resolve that I will find time for myself to workout or just go for a walk. I managed to do this very successfully when I was under a lot of pressure in a job I had about ten years ago.

I had to knock off at 5.30 twice a week so that I could escape and do a modest workout in the gym. That saved my sanity in many ways as exercise is a great way of getting back in touch with your body. Any exercise will release endorphins, the feel good hormones so that we can experience a natural high without resorting to caffeine or alcohol. Exercise which breaks a sweat also benefit our body in many ways as well such as reducing high blood pressure and so on.

Once you do that, you begin to experience a lessening of tension and you realize that you are not allowing stress to control your life, You are in control of the stress. This is so important because stress and anxiety can actually take over our lives if we are not careful.

The best advice of all that I found in ways to calm my nerves and to deal with depression was to resist the great temptation of abusing alcohol. That would certainly make me numb but later it acts as a depressant and just does not solve even the most moor of my problems.

Finally, there are supplements for depression which are not using the serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) which are completely safe and have almost no side effects.

Scientists have shown that about 40% of the 164 million Americans who are on anti deptressants for a mere mild to moderate depression, need not be on these drugs at all as they are not even effective.

We have a long way to go!
